Transfer or authorization code

What the single-use transfer code does and how to handle it safely.

Getting a code

For a transfer to olu, request the code from the registrar currently managing the .ch domain. For a transfer away from olu, open the domain, deliberately unlock it if required, complete the security check and choose Generate transfer code.

Generating a code is free. It does not transfer or delete the domain by itself; the new registrar must submit it while it is valid.

Use the code safely

  1. Show or copy the code only when you are ready to start the transfer.
  2. Give it only to the intended registrar through its secure transfer form.
  3. If it was exposed or the transfer is no longer wanted, invalidate it from the domain page and generate a new one later.

olu support will never ask you to send a transfer code by email.

Frequently asked questions

Is the transfer code the same as my olu password?

No. The transfer code is only for moving the domain and is not your olu account password.
