What a nameserver change means
Nameservers decide which provider answers for the entire DNS zone. After delegation, records in olu no longer control the live website or email, and olu cannot validate or edit third-party DNS records for you.
Before switching, copy A, AAAA, CNAME, MX, TXT, CAA and service records to the new provider. Lowering TTL in advance can help, but cached answers still take time to expire.
Connect Cloudflare
- Add the domain to the intended Cloudflare account and review its DNS scan line by line, especially email and verification records.
- Resolve DNSSEC first: remove an old DS record before changing providers, then enable and publish the new Cloudflare DS only after Cloudflare is authoritative.
- Copy the two nameservers assigned to that exact Cloudflare zone into the olu nameserver control and confirm the change.
- Wait for Cloudflare to mark the zone active, then test website, email and certificate issuance.
To return to olu DNS, use the disconnect flow or contact support. Review the restored olu snapshot before relying on it because changes made only at the external provider are not automatically part of that snapshot.
