Collect the required records
Add the domain in your website provider first. It will show the current DNS records for the root domain and usually www. Keep that screen open: provider targets can change, so use the values shown for your account rather than an old tutorial.
Decide which hostname is primary, such as example.ch or www.example.ch. The website provider should redirect the other one after both are verified.
Add and verify
- Open the domain’s DNS page in olu and take a snapshot of the current records.
- Add the requested A, AAAA, CNAME or TXT records with the exact name and value.
- Remove only records for the same hostname and type that conflict. Do not remove MX or email TXT records when connecting a website.
- Save, then use Verify in the website provider. DNS can take time to update because of caching.
- Once verified, enable HTTPS at the website provider and test both the root domain and www.
