Transfer a .ch domain to olu

The transfer is free and keeps the existing paid-through and next renewal date.

Before you start

Ask the current registrar for the transfer or auth code and confirm that the holder details are current. A transfer to olu costs CHF 0 and does not add a registration year. Check the real next renewal date shown before you confirm.

Existing nameservers stay in place during the transfer. Your website and email should therefore keep working unless you change DNS separately.

Transfer the domain

  1. Open Transfer on olu, enter the complete .ch domain and continue.
  2. Enter the transfer code exactly as issued, without surrounding spaces.
  3. Review the holder, nameservers, free transfer price and next renewal date.
  4. Confirm and follow the status in your account. Do not cancel service at the old provider until olu shows the transfer as complete.

After completion, olu renews the domain one year at a time for CHF 12. Swiss VAT is not currently charged.

Frequently asked questions

Will a transfer interrupt my website or email?

Normally no: olu preserves the existing nameservers. An interruption is possible only if the old DNS provider stops serving the zone or you change records or nameservers.
